Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles-Robinson says the responsibility for appointing PNM senators rests with her.
Speaking at the PNM Sports and Family Day yesterday, she responded to public concern about the resignation of Oppostion Senator Janelle John-Bates.
Senator John-Bates offered her resignation earlier this month and apologized for controversy surrounding her role on the parliamentary oversight committee.
However no confirmation has yet been given on whether the resignation has been accepted.
The issue involves allegations that John-Bates, along with Faris Al-Rawi, altered a witness statement for former Minister Terrence Deyalsingh, leading to her removal from the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee.
