There have been no reports of T&T nationals being affected by yesterday’s powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake in Colombia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has acknowledged the significant earthquake activity in Colombia and its neighbouring countries and expressed solidarity with those affected by the tragedy.
It says it will continue to monitor the situation through this country’s diplomatic missions in the region.
Nationals needing consular assistance are being urged to contact the T&T’s Embassy in Venezuela.
The death toll currently stands at 132 and a national state of emergency has been declared.
The country’s newly installed President says the Government has deployed all available resources to protect lives, assist affected communities and deliver aid where needed.
Cali, Pereira, Quibdó and Manizales are among the areas affected, with dozens of buildings collapsed and hundreds damaged.
