Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says new agreements with the US and other major energy companies are restoring Point Lisas as an “engine of growth”.
These, she said, have the potential to boost investment, energy security, industrial and AI development.
Speaking during a visit by US Deputy State Secretary Christopher Landau yesterday, she highlighted several major initiatives through recent US partnerships.
Mrs Persad-Bissessar also highlighted progress on the Manakin-Cocuina gas project, between BP and the National Gas Company.
The Prime Minister also credited NGC’s negotiations with helping to remove a major obstacle and allowing BP to move ahead with its final investment decision.
She also welcomed BP’s acquisition of Woodside’s interest in the Calypso gas field, saying it could help advance the project.
