The National Gas Company has secured 50 % of the gas volumes from the Coconut development, which is expected to begin production in the first quarter of 2027.
NGC said the agreement will add 300 billion cubic feet of gas to its portfolio and strengthen supplies to the downstream sector.
The company noted that under the previous administration only a small portion of the gas was earmarked for NGC, but negotiations with the development’s licence holders have now secured a significantly larger share for the local market.
NGC said the additional gas will support industry, employment and investment, while strengthening Trinidad and Tobago’s energy security.
