From today, new amendments to the Children Court Rules have come into effect, updating procedures for court sittings during vacation periods.
The Court’s long vacation will run from August 1st to September 1st 2026
The changes set out which matters may be heard during vacation, including urgent applications, domestic violence cases, bail matters, and charge-related hearings.
Other matters will only be heard if deemed urgent by a judge and supported by a Certificate of Urgency.
