The National Trust is warning the public against climbing or sitting on monuments and heritage structures, following reports that heritage assets have been inappropriately treated.
The Trust says it has received reports of people damaging or putting themselves at risk while interacting with historic sites.
It reminds citizens that these sites, including monuments and artefacts, are protected heritage assets and should be treated with care.
It is urging visitors to act responsibly and contact the Trust if they are unsure about how to engage with heritage sites.
The National Trust currently has over 400 assets recorded in its inventory, which it says remains essential in understanding this country’s story.
