Opposition MP Keith Scotland is giving the Government a “failing grade” on public safety, as he questions the effectiveness of the State of Emergency.
Speaking at a PNM media briefing this morning, he says the country is being governed through emergency powers rather than long-term crime-fighting policies.
Mr Scotland said the Government has spent much of its time in office under a State of Emergency.
Mr Scotland claims there is no clear evidence the measures are working and is calling for greater accountability, including a report on the SOE’s impact on crime.
He claims citizens do not feel safer than they did six months ago.
