Opposition MP Christian Birchwood is criticizing the Government’s suspension of the Military-Led Academic Training (MiLAT) programme, saying it affects more than 200 trainees and staff.

Speaking at an Opposition media conference this morning, he said the programme has helped at-risk youth gain training and CSEC certification.

He dismissed Defense Minister Wayne Sturge’s comments that the programme was “not economically viable,” arguing it delivers important social benefits.

Mr Birchwood is calling for an alternative to be put in place for affected trainees.
