Security has been increased across Heritage Petroleum’s pipeline network, following what the company believes was an act of sabotage at Barrackpore.
Heritage says a six-foot section of pipeline was deliberately detached, causing a hydrocarbon leak and triggering its emergency response.
Vacuum trucks, heavy equipment and containment booms have been deployed to recover the spill and protect nearby waterways.
Heritage says air quality is being monitored as a precaution and company officials are keeping nearby residents informed.
