A fight that left one student unconscious along a roadway is believed to have stemmed from exchanges and banter on social media.

According to the TTPS, the incident occurred between 2:30pm and 3:30pm yesterday.

A video shared on social media shows one student losing consciousness after being repeatedly kicked in the head.

His attackers flee and a car almost drives over the boy as he lay on the ground.

The TTPS says, “Officers attached to the Central Division visited a  secondary school in Chaguanas on Thursday 21st May, 2026, where they met with the Principal and School Safety Officer regarding the incident. Investigations are currently being conducted by the School Safety Officer.”

Three students of the institution were involved in the altercation, including one student who was allegedly seen kicking the victim about the head while he was on the ground.

The students were reportedly absent from school today and their parents have since been contacted by school officials.

They are expected to be placed on extended indefinite suspension pending further enquiries.

The victim meanwhile is a 14-year-old student of another central-based school.

He was taken home following the incident and later sought medical attention, first at the Chaguanas Medical Facility, then the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

The Education Ministry has condemned this incident, expressing concern about the act of violence itself and the circulation of videos and images across social media platforms.

It says such behaviour threatens the safety, dignity and well-being of students and staff, and undermines the values the education system seeks to instill.

It adds that all appropriate mechanisms and interventions are being actively engaged in response to this matter, including collaboration with the TTPS, School Supervisors, Administrators, and all relevant stakeholders.
