The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries hosted a high-level courtesy call from executives of CNOOC International on Thursday.
Energy Minister Dr. Roodal Moonilal, Minister Ernesto Kesar and senior officials met with the leadership of the China National Offshore Oil Corporation at the Ministryβs Waterfront Complex offices.
CNOOC, Chinaβs third-largest national oil company and the worldβs second-largest LNG trader, outlined its interest in expanding operations in Trinidad and Tobago.
The company already holds stakes in deep-water projects, including Block 2(c) through its subsidiary Chaoyang Petroleum.
Government officials welcomed the talks, noting they support the Prime Ministerβs mandate to revitalise the energy sector.
Both sides agreed the meeting marks the start of a long-term, productive partnership.
