Agriculture Minister Ravi Ratiram says a proactive approach is being taken to help farmers avoid losses in the Wet Season.
Speaking to 103.1FM on the sidelines of an event in Brechin Castle on Saturday, Mr Ratiram said a national de-silting programme was being undertaken.
Some of it is geared specifically to helping farmers avoid losses in the first place.
Mr Ratiram said efforts are also continuing to reduce the average price of local produce by boosting production.
