Man held for bursting garbage bags in Curepe

A man was held by police, after reports that he was bursting garbage bags put out by residents in the Curepe area.

The arrest came yesterday, after the suspect, a Spanish-speaking male, was spotted along the Priority Bus Route in the vicinity of the Curepe Bridge.

According to the TTPS, he is in custody pending further enquiries.

Meanwhile, police have seized a quantity of cannabis at Rapsey Street in Curepe.

A rectangular block weighing 820 grams was found wrapped in clear plastic and concealed inside a drain.

And in a separate incident yesterday, police destroyed 65 cannabis trees in Maloney.

The trees were found by officers in a forested area behind Britten Boulevard.
