A man is now in custody as investigations continue into an attempt to throw contraband onto the compound of the Port of Spain Prison.
The individual was held around 7:30am today by Prison Officers who were acting on intelligence relating to the attempt.
The package was recovered and found to contain fifty 50 packs of cigarettes, a cellphone, two plastic bottles with alcohol and a quantity of plant-like material resembling that marijuana.
The suspect has since been handed over to a team of officers attached to the Central Police Station.
