Tertiary Education Minister Dr Prakash Persad says even though refurbishment works at the UWI-St Augustine South Campus in Debe are proceeding “as fast as possible”, there is no projected opening date at this time.
According to the T&T Express, the Minister said it is difficult to predict when the campus will be ready to receive students.
The Government previously indicated that the UWI-STA South Campus was expected to open once refurbishment works were completed, with August identified as a possible target.
However, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar previously noted that a date was not definitive.
During the 2025 budget, $70-million was allocated to refurbish the campus, which is expected to support training in areas including law, forensics, information technology and artificial intelligence.
