19-year-old wrist spinner Vitel Lawes has been included in the West Indies squad to face New Zealand in the first three of five ODI matches.

Lawes has been training with the Senior team since the preparatory camp prior to the start of the home series.

Earlier this year he was named in the ICC Under-19 World Cup’s Team of the Tournament, where he impressed by claiming 10 wickets and bowling the highest number of dot balls during the competition.

Coach Nikita Miller has also been added to the team management unit for the Guyana leg of the series to continue providing specialist support to Lawes during his first senior international assignment.

T&T players Amir Jangoo and Jayden Seales have also been included in the side, which will be led by Shai Hope.

The Windies however will be without Shimron Hetmyer and Shamar Springer.

Hetmyer was granted pre-approved clearance through a No Objection Certificate to fulfil Major League Cricket commitments.

Meanwhile, Springer withdrew from selection following the passing of his mother.

Keemo Paul, who was recently added to the West Indies Test squad as reinforcement, will replace Springer.

The first three matches will be played in Guyana while the remaining two will take place in Barbados.
