Laventille West MP Kareem Marcelle is questioning the Government’s reason for not appointing a board to the East Port of Spain Development Company.
Speaking at an Opposition media conference this morning, he raised concerns about the Government’s intentions.
Mr Marcelle claimed funding fell from about $15 million in 2024, to $8 million in 2025, and $2 million this year, with none of the 2026 project funding released so far.
He also outlined infrastructure and social programmes he says have been carried out by the company, including road works, drainage, sporting facilities and assistance to vulnerable families.
The Opposition MP is calling for the board to be appointed in order to continue community regeneration in East Port of Spain.
