Local Government Minister Khadijah Ameen says her Ministry is working overtime to correct what she says is negligence by the Port of Spain City Corporation.
The Minister and Mayor Chinua Alleyne have traded blows over the past week, after the Mayor claimed there was no money for salaries.
Ms Ameen told 103.1FM News today that the permanent secretary met recently with the Corporation’s CEO to outline the documents needed to ensure the relevant funds are disbursed.
She added that on June 25th, several issues were uncovered.

Minister Ameen said she was hoping to sign off on the matter today.
She also accused the Mayor of playing “political football” with the workers’ pay and called on him to desist.
Just yesterday, Mayor Alleyne said the matter remained unresolved.
He also claimed the Corporation had complied with all requests from the Ministry for information, adding “I am also advised that the Ministry’s auditors will complete their audit tomorrow [Tuesday] morning and a Transfer of Funds application will then be made by the Ministry of Local Government to the Ministry of Finance to transfer allocation from the Ministry of Local Government’s budget to the City’s budget.”
