Dominic and Genevieve Hadeed will remain in custody, after a High Court Judge dismissed their bid to be released.
This, after Justice Frank Seepersad today ruled that the Preventive Detention Orders issued against them were lawful.
However, while he rejected the couple’s habeas corpus application, he emphasized a State of Emergency cannot eclipse the rule of law.
The Hadeeds were detained last Wednesday as part of a police investigation into a conspiracy to assassinate senior Government members, including the Prime Minister.
They were initially held under the Emergency Powers Regulations before PDOs were issued by Homeland Minister Roger Alexander.
