A multi-agency national security investigation has been launched into a cargo plane, which landed at Piarco yesterday.
This is in keeping with heightened security enforcement measures, now in place under the current State of Emergency.
Authorities reported that on Thursday, routine inspections uncovered irregularities on board a cargo aircraft, which prompted immediate precautionary action.
The TTPS said the aircraft was secured, the crew accounted for, and noted that multiple national security agencies have been mobilized in the investigation.
Officials have reassured that there was no danger to the public or disruption to airport operations and the situation was managed in a controlled and professional manner.
Police said further details on this matter will be released when safe and appropriate to do so.
