Former Finance Minister Colm Imbert has criticized the decision to close the domestic lounge at Piarco International Airport, calling it “nonsensical.”

In a post on X, he warned the move could increase congestion, with domestic passengers now sharing security areas with international travellers.

Mr Imbert also highlighted concerns about elderly and disabled passengers, who may face difficulty climbing stairs.

On Saturday, the Airports Authority announced closure of the domestic departure lounge will take effect on April 14th, with all travellers routed through reconfigured “All Gates” to improve efficiency and streamline processing.
