Former National Security Minister Gary Griffith is calling for an urgent shift toward solutions, following a series of violent incidents across the country over the weekend.
In a Facebook post, Mr Griffith highlighted recent events, including the murder of an on-duty police officer, stolen weapons, and multiple killings, near a police station.
He emphasized that coordinated action and practical measures are needed to address the situation, while also raising concerns about individuals in uniform allegedly abusing their positions for criminal activity.
Mr Griffith said these incidents have raised public concern and renews the call for discussions on national security, as criminals have “no fear of consequences for their actions.”
He noted that the focus should now be on strengthening law enforcement effectiveness, addressing internal challenges, and restoring public confidence, adding that “now is not the time to play politics”.
