As rains continue across Trinidad, flooding has been reported along Kangawood Road, leading to the Forres Park Landfill, which may result in delays in waste disposal operations.

This comes following a Yellow Level Localized Flood Alert, which was issued by the T&T Met Service for Trinidad, particularly southern and eastern areas.

It remains in effect until 4PM today.

The Met Service says this is due to the ITCZ, which is bringing additional rainfall to already saturated areas, increasing the risk of flooding, water on the roads and possible landslips in vulnerable areas.

In an update to 103.1FM News, the Local Government Ministry says as of 8AM, there were no other active reports of flooding across the country.

However, river levels in Penal and Debe remain elevated at between 80 and 90 % capacity due to previous rainfall.

All 14 municipalities have confirmed that their Disaster Management Units are on standby and prepared to provide assistance if localized flooding occurs.

The Met Service is advising persons to monitor conditions through its official channels and avoid driving or walking through floodwaters.
