As the CSO prepares for the 2027 National Population and Housing Census, measures are being introduced to better capture data on persons with disabilities and migrant communities.
The CSO says the census will use more inclusive data collection methods, including digital systems and geospatial technology.
With support from the United Nations Population Fund, consultations were held with stakeholders to strengthen disability-inclusive and migrant-sensitive approaches.
Planning Minister Kennedy Swaratsingh said the census aims to provide a modern picture of T&T’s population, to support better planning and resource allocation.
A national pilot exercise is planned for 2026 and follows the last census, which was conducted in 2011.
