Dr. Hafeeza Hosein Shah has been appointed as Director of Social Welfare, while Helen Francis-Baptiste will serve as Deputy Director.
The Ministry of the People says the “long overdue” promotions are part of its ongoing efforts to overhaul and address the administration and delivery of social welfare services.
Dr. Hosein Shah has served in the Public Service since 1998 and brings extensive experience in social welfare administration, social protection, poverty reduction and public policy.
In her new capacity, she will reportedly focus on strengthening the delivery of social welfare services, particularly for persons experiencing poverty, older persons and persons with disabilities.
Mrs. Francis-Baptiste has 30 years of service in the Social Welfare Division, with experience in social welfare administration and the supervision of Local Public Assistance Boards.
