The Ministry of Defence says efforts are continuing to provide assistance to Guyana in the wake of the M.V. Barima disaster.
It says an aircraft was deployed and has already completed three flights between the two countries to support search and rescue operations.
A Coast Guard vessel was also dispatched yesterday, with a team of 20 personnel, including seven divers.
The Ministry adds that further operational details, including personnel numbers and tactical arrangements cannot be disclosed at this time for operational security reasons.
The M.V. Barima capsized on Saturday while sailing from Georgetown to Port Kaituma.
The bodies of 41 people have so far been recovered.
Guyana’s President Dr Irfaan Ali has declared three days of national mourning, with Wednesday designated a National Day of Prayer.
