Alyssa Phillip and her mother, Camille Caresquero, have appeared in a Siparia court to answer to charges stemming from their arrest at Labour Day celebrations.

According to a T&T Express report, Phillip pleaded not guilty to charges of taking part in a riot, disorderly behaviour, and resisting arrest.

Meanwhile, Caresquero pleaded not guilty to taking part in a riot, obstructing police, and resisting arrest.

The matter was adjourned to October 20th.

This is separate from charges stemming from a demonstration outside the DDP’s office earlier this year.

Those charges involve disorderly behaviour and breaches of the Emergency Powers Regulations.

Phillip planned a series of protests following a decision to charge Kaia Sealy with the death of Joshua Samaroo.

Samaroo was killed in a police-involved shooting in January.
