The Privy Council has formally listed the State’s appeal in the case involving Dominic and Genevieve Hadeed.

The case has been classified as an “Appeal As of Right” before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, T&T’s final court of appeal.

According to the Privy Council’s official case list on its website, the matter was issued on July 21st, under Case Number JCPC/2026/0066.

The matter was brought by the Police Commissioner, the Minister of Homeland Security, the Attorney General, and Police Constable Eldon Calliste.

The respondents named are Dominic Hadeed and Genevieve Hadeed.

This appeal follows legal proceedings arising from the Hadeeds’ imprisonment under Preventive Detention Orders.

The Court of Appeal had previously overturned a High Court ruling and ordered that the Hadeeds be released from custody and placed under strict house arrest conditions while their constitutional challenge continued.

However, the State subsequently secured a stay of that order as it moved to take the matter to the Privy Council.

At this stage, the Privy Council has listed the appeal, but no hearing date has been set.
