CXC officials have expressed concerns about student absenteeism relating to the sitting of CSEC and CAPE Exams.
An an event in Anguilla today to mark the release of preliminary results for the 2026 Exams, it was revealed that over 35,000 registered students did not sit their exams: 3,534 for CAPE and 32,403 for CSEC.
CXC’s Director of Operations, Dr Nicole Manning, says while this is a decline compared to previous years, the numbers are still worrying.
She said CXC surveys show that some students stay away because they believe they are not adequately prepared, however she is encouraging them to still attempt the exam.
Dr Manning is also encouraging parents, guardians and teachers to do more to ensure students show up.
