The Judiciary has issued a statement noting reports of a recent search warrant for the Acting Chief Magistrate, but at the same time declining further comment.
A warrant was executed this morning at the Gulf View home of Brian Debideen, with several electronic devices allegedly seized as part of a wider investigation.
In its statement, the Judiciary says it recognises the importance of the core legal principles of due process, the presumption of innocence, and that all persons are considered to be equal before the law.
It adds however that it will refrain from further comment “to safeguard the fairness and integrity of any ongoing investigative or legal processes.”
