Chairman of the Couva Tabaquite Talparo Regional Corporation Ryan Rampersad says crews are working to reclaim and clean up Carli Bay Road.
In an update this morning, he claimed the area has fallen into a state of disrepair after it was left abandoned by the former administration, noting that the area has been affected by poor drainage, flooding and illegal dumping.
Mr Rampersad commended the area’s councilor, Vanessa Kussie, for leading this morning’s clean up operations, which began at 6AM and will continue over the coming days.
He added that Works Minister Jearlean John also visited the site this morning and instructed that the area remains properly maintained.
The Corporation is partnering with the Ministry of Works on the cleanup.
Carli Bay is a popular location for religious, fishing and recreational activities.
