Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed says the borough is moving ahead with plans to upgrade the market and improve conditions for vendors and shoppers.
The T&T Express reported that this announcement follows concerns raised by vendors as some vendors about the condition of the facility, including the washroom areas.
The Mayor says planned works will focus mainly on the upper floor of the market, while efforts continue to integrate vendors displaced from the former health centre site.
He assured that the upgrades will be carried out in a way that limits disruption to vendors and the public.
