Association Maxi Taxi Trinidad and Tobago is again calling on authorities to address their concerns regarding PH taxis.

This follows the murder of 12-year-old Mercedez Cabrera-Layne, whose body was found in a forested area in Erin on Sunday.

She went missing on Saturday, after her grandfather put her in a PH car to be taken to her home a short distance away.

The operation of PH taxis was one of several issues raised by the Association when they met with Transport Minister Eli Zakour on day one of a maxi taxi strike last week.

Association Secretary, Vickash Kissoondath, has since issued a statement saying this is the result of the very issue they sought to highlight.

And while he refused to blame the Minister, he insisted that there must be proactive action to address the issue.

“We call on all relevant authorities and stakeholders to work together to address this issue before another family is forced to endure such a heartbreaking loss,” says Mr Kissoondath.
