Alyssa Phillip and her mother, Camille Caresquero, have appeared for charges stemming from their arrest on Labour Day.
The two were held in Fyzabad, with Phillip subsequently charged with leading a march and failing to call on participants to disperse, disorderly behaviour, and resisting arrest.
Her mother was charged with being present at a march and failing to disperse, obstructing a police officer, and resisting arrest.
According to a Trinidad Express report, both appeared virtually today before Master Kateisha Ambrose-Persadsingh, who allowed them to continue on the $60,000 bail granted at the police station following their arrests.
The matters were also transferred to the Siparia Magistrates Court and will next be heard on July 20th.
This is 2nd time the two have been arrested during the “19 Bullets, 19 Protests” campaign, organized after police charged Kaia Sealy in connection with the fatal shooting of Joshua Samaroo.
Both also reportedly came before the courts less than two weeks ago, after being held during a demonstration near the DPP’s office.
On that occasion, they got $10,000 bail for charges of behaving in a disorderly manner and breaching the Emergency Powers Regulations.
Those matters have been adjourned to September 29th.
