The TTPS Western Division is reporting an overall decline in serious crime for the first half of the year.
The statistics were shared this morning during a TTPS media brieifing this morning, by Western Division Head, Senior Superintendent Sylvester Williams.
He reported a 16% reduction in serious reported crimes, from January 1st to June 8th.
However, Senior Superintendent Williams said increases were recorded in kidnappings, fraud and break-ins, particularly in the St James and West End districts.
He says police have intensified targeted operations, increasing patrols in known crime hotspots and making full use of State of Emergency powers to seize drugs and ammunition and make arrests.
