The TTPS has paid tribute to those lost during the six-day coup attempt.

In a statement, it says the impact of that period extended far beyond the immediate violence, with families left to grieve, and businesses suffering losses from which some never fully recovered.

It adds that the wider national security fraternity bore the weight of an unprecedented assault and reaffirms its commitment to protecting peace, stability, and democratic values.

Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro also paid tribute today, by laying a wreath on the grave of slain police officer, Solomon Mc Leod.

Mc Leod was the first to die during the coup attempt, while on sentry duty at the gates to Police Headquarters.

He tried to defend against a vehicle of insurgents, but was shot and run-over before a bomb in the vehicle was detonated.

His body is interred at the Indian Walk Cemetery in Princes Town.
