Today’s strike by by maxi taxi drivers left scores of commuters stranded, prompting the Police Service to dispatch several buses.
The TTPS says acting on the directive of Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro, ACP Specialized Support, Brian Sooden deployed five TTPS maxi taxis to City Gate in Port of Spain this afternoon.
It added that the TTPS remains committed not only to ensuring public safety and security but also to supporting citizens during times of need.
The action by maxi taxi operators is expected to continue until Wednesday.
