The TTPS has confirmed the detention of two persons as warrants were executed this morning in Westmoorings and Trincity.
It adds however that no charges have been laid at this time, with the two currently assisting investigators with enquiries.
A statement was issued following reports this morning that a prominent businessman and his wife were allegedly taken into custody.
According to the TTPS, the execution of a warrant is a standard investigative procedure and does not constitute a finding of wrongdoing.
It adds, that no conclusions should be drawn regarding the status of any individual until investigations are completed and any evidence is properly assessed in accordance with due process.
Since the matter remains active, it says no additional details can be disclosed at this stage.
Additionally, the TTPS emphasized the legitimacy of this morning’s execution of warrants, saying “All actions taken by officers were conducted strictly within the parameters of the law, under judicial authority, and with full regard for the rights and reputational interests of all persons involved.”
