Over TT$3 million in grants has been distributed to 70 athletes, sport-serving bodies, and National Governing Bodies.
Presentations were made during a ceremony held at the National Racquet Sports Centre in Tacarigua, with the grants awarded under the Ministry’s Athlete Assistance Programme.
They are intended to provide critical financial support to athletes as they prepare for and participate in international competitions.
Sport Minister Phillip Watts said the initiative as “a reaffirmation of this Government’s commitment to excellence in sport and to the holistic development of our young people across Trinidad and Tobago.”
He added that efforts were continuing to modernize the Ministry’s grant administration systems, to make them more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly.
