A Trinidad and Tobago national has been extradited to the United States to face charges for armed robbery and conspiracy, 12 years after a warrant was issued for his arrest in Maryland.

Kervon Noel was extradited on Tuesday and if convicted of armed robbery, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

Noel, who fled to Trinidad and Tobago after failing to appear in court in 2014, was arrested in Port of Spain earlier this year and agreed to extradition.

US Embassy officials say the removal of a dangerous criminal from the street showcases what can be achieved when two nations united with shared commitment and purpose.
