The US has nominated Jennifer Johnson-Carroll, originally from Arouca, to serve as its next Ambassador to T&T.
If confirmed, she would become the first T&T-born woman to serve as the US Ambassador to this country.
According to a White House release, the nomination was formally sent to the US Senate for confirmation on June 1st and moves to the US Senate for review and confirmation.
Ms Johnson-Carroll previously served as the 18th Lieutenant Governor of Florida, where she made history as the first woman elected to that office and the first Caribbean-born person elected to statewide office in Florida.
Meanwhile, AMCHAM has welcomed the nomination, describing it as a reflection of strong bilateral ties between both countries.
