Three Venezuelans have been detained and a quantity of suspected drugs has been seized following an early-morning maritime operation today.
According to the T&T Defence Force, a vessel was intercepted around 2AM today in the Gulf of Paria and following a search, 11 crocus bags containing packets of compressed, plant-like material were found.
The vessel, its occupants and the material were taken to Staubles Bay and handed over to the relevant authorities for further processing.
The Defence Force says every lawful capability will continue to be used to disrupt maritime threats and protect T&T and its territorial waters.
