A search for a baby, reportedly seen floating in a Marabella river, was called off around midnight, with no body found.
This was confirmed to 103.1FM News by Vallance Rambharat, of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team.
Police and rescue teams responded yesterday evening, after a woman reported that her two children spotted what appeared to be a newborn baby in a river near Union Park, Marabella, at around 5PM.
Officers searched the area and made inquiries with nearby residents, including attempts to review CCTV footage.
However, Mr Rambharat said police are still working to verify the report and determine the facts surrounding the alleged sighting.
He also explained the importance of following up on reports of this nature and ensuring all possible leads are pursued.
