A 36-year-old man was shot dead by police during an incident that also left an officer injured.
Around 6:40pm yesterday, officers responded to a report of an armed man at Farroe Terrace, San Juan.
On arrival, they found the man, armed with two knives, being chased by a group.
The suspect was urged to drop the weapons, however he allegedly advanced and injured one officer on the hand and arm.
He then fled the scene after an officer fired a single shot.
Around 7:30pm, the suspect was found in a bushy track near the San Juan River, where he again allegedly attacked the officers.
He was wounded after the officers fired several shots, and later pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
He has been identified as 36-year-old Abraham Hackette of Farroe Terrace, San Juan.
The injured officer was treated and said to be in stable condition.
The TTPS says all relevant protocols have been initiated, with the matter referred for further review in accordance with standard procedures.
