Representatives from 17 Caribbean countries and territories have strengthened regional efforts to improve early warning systems at the start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season.
The workshop focused on Impact-Based Forecasting and Warning Services, which provide information not only on expected weather hazards, but also on their likely impacts and the actions needed to reduce risk.
Participants from meteorological and disaster management agencies across the region took part in technical discussions, simulations and practical exercises aimed at improving warning systems and emergency communication.
A key outcome was an agreement to continue collaborating through a regional network for peer learning, technical exchange and operational cooperation.
Organizers say the initiative will help ensure weather forecasts are translated into actionable warnings that protect lives, livelihoods and critical infrastructure across the Caribbean.
