The Prison Officers’ Association is calling for the suspension of proposed changes to the promotion points system for prison officers.
The Association said it was not consulted on the Public Service Commission’s adjusted points-based system, under Regulation 172, and does not support its implementation in its current form.
It added changes to the points awarded for postgraduate qualifications and commendations could affect officers’ promotion scores and may lead to subjectivity, perceived favouritism and unequal treatment.
The Association is calling for meaningful consultation with stakeholders before the changes are introduced.
