A 50-year-old Princes Town woman has appeared in court charged with fraud, extortion and other related offences.
The charges against Michelle Lisa Guyadeen-Lutchman follow an investigation into allegations that, between July 2021 and May 2026, she falsely represented herself as an employee of the Ministry of Social Development.
She allegedly promised to facilitate government assistance for a victim to rebuild her home, in exchange for monthly payments of $2,500.
She also allegedly issued threats when the victim stopped paying.
Guyadeen-Lutchman was charged with:
- Obtaining Money by False Pretences
- Demanding Money with Menaces
- Kidnapping
- Simple Robbery
She was granted $200,000 bail by Master Sarah Da Silva at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court on Monday, with the matter adjourned to September 4th 2026.
