Port of Spain Mayor Chinua Alleyne has claimed that the issue of delayed salary payments for City Corporation workers remains unresolved.
In a social media post yesterday, Mayor Alleyne said the Corporation is still awaiting funding to pay June salaries, to its 446 monthly-paid employees, including more than 180 City Police officers.
He says the Corporation is facing a salary shortfall of nearly $13 million.
According to the Mayor, the Ministry of Local Government has requested additional information, which he says, has been provided.
He says Ministry auditors are expected to complete an audit today, after which, a transfer of funds is expected to be requested from the Finance Ministry.
