A male suspect is in custody, after police rescued a woman who was kidnapped from her Diego Martin home.
Around 7:05pm on June 1st, the suspect went to the woman’s home and asked to speak with her.
Although he is known to her, she refused.
The suspect got into a struggle with the woman and although she initially locked herself in the house, the man broke in, took her phone and locked it in his car.
He later pushed her into the vehicle when she went to retrieve it and drove off.
The woman managed to throw herself from the car while proceeding along Richplain Road and was struck by the open car door when the assailant reversed the vehicle.
He pulled her back into the vehicle and drove off in the direction of Maracas.
A report of the incident was made to the police, with officers later intercepting the vehicle in La Fillette around 9pm.
As the officers approached the vehicle, the woman exited and ran towards them screaming.
She was subsequently taken for medical treatment, while the suspect – a 22-year-old from El Dorado – was arrested.
Police also reportedly recovered a Beretta pistol loaded with a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition.
