Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro says officers have recovered a quantity of firearms believed to have been stolen during the deadly attack on a municipal police facility.
Acting Corporal Anusha Eversley was killed during the attack on Sunday and a cache of firearms and ammunition was stolen from the police station.
Commissioner Guevarro gave an update during a video message recorded at around 1:30 am on Monday. confirming he was on the ground with a team led by Inspector Wilkinson.
“We have bean about to recover what we believe to be a portion of the quantity of firearms that were stolen from the Municipal Police headquarters during the homicide of Corporal Eversley,” he said.
Guevarro praised the efforts of the officers involved in the operation.
“I just want to commend you officers for the excellent work that they have been doing, and we have been pushing since that time until now. We have officers in other parts of the Division at this time carrying out simultaneous exercises,” he added.
The Police Commissioner assured the public that further updates will be provided.
